ALTERNATIVE DOSING (BLUE BOOK / HSgB DRUG LIST)

2.4 mg of artesunate/kg body weight, by (IV) or (IM) Inj, at 0, 12 and 24 hours, then OD until oral treatment can be substituted.

For adults and children with severe malaria or who are unable to tolerate oral medicines, artesunate 2.4 mg/kg body weight IV or IM given on admission (time=0), then at 12hrs and 24hrs, then OD for 5-7 days is the recommended treatment.
